Bhubaneswar: Private hospitals in Bhubaneswar will be provided COVID-19 vaccine after more vaccine reach the state capital, informed BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary on Monday.
In a video message, the BMC Commissioner said: “At present 1.5 lakh doses of Covaxin are available for which slot booking has already been done. Once we receive more vaccine, they will be provided to the private hospitals.”
A total of 1.5 lakh doses of Covaxin have been allocated for different Government-managed centres and the jabs will get over by May 19.
The BMC will soon get another lot of vaccines which will be distributed evenly among private hospitals and Government-managed centres. In the first phase, a total of 31 private hospitals have been selected in Bhubaneswar for vaccination, Chaudhary said.
People registering online can get jabs at private hospitals by paying a nominal administrative charge, after May 19. However, the vaccination will be done free of cost at Government centres. The vaccines will be meant for people in both 18-44 and 45+ age groups, the BMC Commissioner added.
