Prince Harry’s controversial memoir Spare has entered the Guinness World Records for fastest-selling nonfiction book of all time.
Having sold 1.43 million copies on the day of release, Spare has now become a Guinness Record holder. It is the fastest-selling non-fiction book of all time – outpacing ‘A Promised Land’ by former US President Barack Obama’s and many others.
The headline-grabbing book was published on Tuesday as Prince Harry undertook a string of high-profile promotional interviews.
Sales of ‘Spare’ hit 1.4 million English-language copies on its day 1 in the UK, United States and Canada, smashing Penguin Random House’s sales record. The numbers come as the first opinion poll of sorts since publication showed that Harry’s popularity in the UK continuing to nosedive.
The record was previously held by former President Barack Obama’s 2020 memoir A Promised Land, which sold 887,000 copies on release day, according to Guinness.
