Mumbai: Kalki 2898 AD starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Deepika Padukone finally releases in theatres today. The film’s US premieres have got overwhelmingly positive response, with fans going gaga over Prabhas’ entry scene. Back home, people are flocking to theatres to catch the first day first show of Kalki 2898 AD.
The film, directed by Nag Ashwin, has already shattered several box office records as it has earned over Rs 50 crore via its advance bookings.
The film also features a series of blockbuster cameos by stars like Dulquer Salmaan, Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur. The film has sold over 19 lakh tickets in India. As per film trade experts, Kalki 2898 AD will easily cross Rs 200 crore mark globally at the box office on the first day of its release.
Kalki 2898 AD revolves around a modern avatar of Lord Vishnu, who has descended on Earth to protect the world from the forces of evil.
The film recorded a stupendous business in its advance booking which promised an opening of over Rs 120 crore gross in India. The nett collection of the Prabhas-starrer for Day 1 could be in the range of Rs 90–100 crore, considering the film has already sold close to 2 million tickets for its opening day in India alone. As per the trade website sacnilk, the data, including the blocked seats, suggests an advance sales business of over Rs 60 crore gross in India alone.
The film, which also stars Dulquer Salmaan and Vijay Deverakonda in special roles, might just witness a gigantic Rs 500 crore-weekend. The sci-fi drama is expected to collect around Rs 180-200 crore gross on its first day, and the business during the weekend, especially on Saturday and Sunday, is likely to surpass all trade predictions so far. At this point, it might not be a surprise if ‘Kalki’ crosses the Rs 500 crore benchmark even before Sunday at the worldwide box office.
