Bhubaneswar: After arriving of 300 trucks of potato from Uttar Pradesh it has been expected that the price of potato will fall in Odisha. Earlier, the rate of one kg was Rs 30 which surged to Rs 60 per kg after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Bannerjee put restrictions on potato supply from WB to Odisha a few days back.
As per reports, potato price has surged by Rs 30 in a week. Hence, consumers are worried about the possibility of further price hike.
According to retailers, while potato supply is decreasing, now there is less potato supply in the bags. Earlier, 50 kg of potatoes were in the bags, now 42 kg of potatoes are there.
Meanwhile today Assembly will resume after a 3-days break. The issue of potato price hike may come up in the House today.
