Ponzi scam: Nirmal Infra executive director arrested, sent to jail
Bhubaneswar: The sleuths of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested an executive director of a chit fund company from Madhya Pradesh and forwarded him to court today in connection with multi-crore ponzi scam.
The arrested accused has been identified as Niranjan Saksena, executive director of Nirmal Infra Home Corporations Limited.
Saxena was arrested from Madhya Pradesh by a special team of CBI, and was brought to Odisha today on transit remand. Later, he was presented before the Special CBI Court and sent to Jharpada jail where he will be lodged under judicial custody till the remand period.
According to reports, the ponzi firm had allegedly duped gullible investors across the country to the tune of Rs 433 crore on the pretext of higher rate of returns.
Nirmal Infra had started from Bhopal in 2008 and later it spread its branches in Odisha and Madhya Pradesh. The firm allegedly swindled crores of rupees from the investors and at the time of return the firm authorities were unable to reach.
Acting on the complaints the CBI registered a case in this regard on 2014 and initiated a probe. The chit fund firm authorities were on the run since then.
The CBI sleuths then managed to nab the two chief managing directors (CMDs) of the tainted chit fund firm identified as Ashish Chouhan and Abhisekh Chouhan on March 7, 2018. The executive director of the firm, Saksena who was at large since then was nabbed by the CBI yesterday.
