Ponniyin Selvan (PS-1) box office collection Day 11: Mani Ratnam’s film earns Rs 400 crore globally
Chennai: Mani Ratnam’s historic epic, Ponniyin Selvan 1 with Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Trisha is creating new records at the box office with each passing day. On Monday, it entered the Rs. 175 crore club in Tamil Nadu and emerged the highest-grossing film of all time in the state. The film has gone past the Tamil Nadu collections of Kamal Haasan’s gangster thriller, Vikram, which had collected Rs. 172 crores with a release earlier this year in June.
The historical fiction film crossed Rs 400 crore globally and is now eyeing the Rs 500-crore mark. The makers of Ponniyin Selvan made it official that the film is the highest grossing Tamil movie in the USA, Australia, UK, Singapore and Malaysia. The film will break more box office records in the coming days if it continues at this pace.
Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1 hit the theatres on September 30 in multiple languages. The film received positive responses from the critics and the audiences alike.
Ponniyin Selvan surpassed the Rs 400-crore mark on October 10 and it is a huge milestone for the team. It’s the third film after Rajinikanth’s 2.0 and Kamal Haasan’s Vikram to achieve this feat.
According to the makers of Ponniyin Selvan, the film is a blockbuster in the USA, UK, Australia, Singapore and Malaysia by becoming the highest grossing Tamil flick. This is indeed a huge achievement for a Tamil film.
