Police rescue woman following abortive suicide bid in Sambalpur


Sambalpur: Police on Sunday recovered a married woman from the deserted street of Sambalpur town who had fallen unconscious after a suicide bid. This has occurred when the whole town was under lockdown due to coronavirus.

She had chopped off both the arterial veins of her palms in sharp weapons and collapsed near Kacheri square. The police personnel posted near the Mahanadi bridge rushed to her help and rescued the woman to Ainthapalli health centre.

She is recuperating after being treated at the health centre, police said. Police said the married woman belongs to Motijharan. She was trying to commit suicide following family problem, police said.

Her family members have been informed about the matter.
