Bolangir: The dead body of a police constable was recovered from a hotel room in Bolangir under mysterious circumstances on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Shankarbhanu Behera, who was working as a constable in Sonepur Reserve Police.
As per reports, Behera had gone to Bolangir on May 11. However, he didn’t return home. Later, he was found dead with his hands and legs tied inside a hotel room near Bolangir Railway Station.
On intimation, Bolangir Town police reached the spot and seized the body for post-mortem. It is suspected that Behera might have been murdered by someone.
As per sources, the hotel room was booked by one Vineet Sharma from Dhanbad in Jharkhand. Sharma has been missing since the incident. It is suspected that he might have killed Behera after fettering him inside the hotel room.
Though the exact motive behind the suspected murder is yet to be ascertained, speculation is rife that Behera might have been killed over the ganja trade.
Meanwhile, as per some residents, the accused fled away with the deceased’s car after murdering him. Subsequently, they left the car and ran away after facing a severe accident near Khujenpali.
