Cuttack: Police on Wednesday arrested the man who had stabbed an engineering girl student over one sided love-affair in Pratap Nagari under Sadar police limits in the district.
The accused identified as Satyaranjan Behera has been arrested from Baranga area of Khurdha on Wednesday. He has been produced before court.
The girl who sustained critical injuries after being stabbed with a knife by Behera in broad daylight, was admitted to SCB Medical College Hospital on Tuesday.
The victim was identified as a resident Pratap Nagari. She was attacked by the accused when she was returning home. But the exact motive behind the incident has not been ascertained. One side love affair is suspected to be the cause of attack.
The victim was rescued in a critical condition and rushed to the SCB Medical College Hospital by some locals. However, the accused had managed to escape from the spot.
On an information, a police team from Sadar police station reached the spot and began an investigation into the incident.
