Sundergarh: Three accused persons were sentenced to 25 years’ rigorous imprisonment (RI) imprisonment each by the Special POCSO Court in connection to a minor girl rape case in 2015.
The trio was fined Rs 10,000 and will undergo another 1 year RI in case they fail to pay the fine, the court ordered.
The district legal services authority (DLSA) have been directed to pay a compensation of Rs 7 lakh to the victim in this case.
The case relates to the rape of a minor girl which took place in May 2015 in Sundergarh district’s Raghunathpali area.
The three accused, Siba Kumar Oram, Ganesh Sandil, and Ajit Kumar Panda were arrested by the local police and booked on charges of rape.
In another case, the Sundergarh POCSO court has sentenced one Kanhu Bindhani to 20 years RI for raping a minor girl. Bindhani has been fined Rs 10,000 and the DLSA has been ordered to pay a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the victim.
