PNB fraud: Antigua to revoke Mehul Choksi’s passport

New Delhi: The Antiguan prime minister Gaston Browne has said that his country is ready to revoke Mehul Choksi’s passport once he exhausts all his legal options.

The fugitive’s passport and citizenship will be revoked and he will be repatriated to India.

It may be noted that after this he can be extradited to India. Choksi and Nirav Modi are key accused in the Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud case. They both fled from India last year.

Choksi was, however, granted citizenship of Antigua and Barbuda on January 15, 2018.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED), last week, had even offered to provide an air ambulance and a team of medical experts to bring back Choksi from Antigua and provide him with all necessary treatment in India.

The ED in its counter affidavit said:”He (Mehul Choksi) never cooperated in the investigation. A non-bailable warrant was issued against him. A Red Notice was issued by the Interpol. He has refused to return, he is, therefore, a fugitive and an absconder”.
