Singapore: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to attend the 16th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Singapore on Thursday.
Official sources said the 13 East Asia Summit meet will be conducted in two sections on Thursday. First, the East Asia Lunch Retreat and it will be followed by the EAS in a plenary session.
Sources said the EAS is a forum in the Indo-Pacific region comprising 10 ASEAN member. The members are Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam. The eight dialogue partners are India, China, Japan, Republic of Korea, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Russia.
The Indian Prime Minister will attend the meet for the fifth time since its inception in 2005. The topics likely to be discussed in the summit meet are international development issues like ICT, Smart Cities, Maritime Cooperation, Education, Finance, Food Security, Environment and Energy.
