PM Modi Lays Foundation Stone Of IIM Sambalpur

Sambalpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday laid the foundation stone of the permanent campus of the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) Sambalpur via video conferencing.

Addressing the people of the State, the Prime Minister said that the permanent campus of IIM Sambalpur will represent the great heritage of Odisha.

Stating that today,s startups are tomorrow’s multinationals, Modi said that many such startups are coming from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities and they need managers.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, India has witnessed more number of unicorns in 2020. The youth have a huge responsibility towards Brand India, he added.

India is proud of the rich contributions of IIMs to national progress. The establishment of IIM Sambalpur will turn the city into an education hub. The IIM will act as a bridge between the local and global productions, said PM Modi.

Sambalpur is known for mineral, coal, gold and various gemstones. Hirakud Dam, Debrigarh Sanctuary and Sambalpuri textile are giving new edge to Odisha tourism. This entire region is surrounded by small industries and this is like a living laboratory to promote ‘Vocal for Local’, he said.

“I am confident our IIMs will power Local for Global with their alumni networks. Innovative ideas from youth will make the region of Sambalpur a great tourist destination in the future, ” said the PM.

Among others, Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Union Educations Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Dharmendra Pradhan and Pratap Chandra Sarangi attended (virtually) the foundation stone ceremony.
