PM Modi appeals to farmers as agriculture minister pens letter
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has requested all Annadatas (farmers) to read an open letter penned by Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar.
“Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has expressed his feelings by writing a letter to the farmer brothers & sisters, trying to have a polite dialogue. I request all Annadatas to read it. I also urge countrymen to make it reach to as many people as possible,” PM Modi said in a tweet.
https://t.co/9B4d5pyUF1

In the letter, the government spoke of keeping communication open with the farmers, but insisted that it would not entertain any opposition agenda.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal today held a key meeting with party general secretaries to discuss farmers’ agitation. Earlier today, the Supreme Court acknowledged the right of farmers to protest but said it has to be non-violent.
