Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accompanied by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and senior police officials from across the country, engaged in detailed discussions on various national policing and security issues during the 59th DG-IG Conference.
“Enjoyed a fruitful first day at the DGP/IGP Conference in Bhubaneswar, discussing a range of topics on policing and security,” PM Modi stated on X, also sharing images from the event.
PM Modi participated in the three-day DGP conference, which HM Amit Shah inaugurated on November 29.
During the conference, police chiefs from all states and central security agencies deliberated on multiple facets to devise strategies against current and future national security threats, including Left-Wing Extremism, Coastal Security, Narcotics, Cybercrime, and Economic Security.
Reports indicate that the delegates are also evaluating the progress in the implementation of new Criminal Laws, initiatives, and policing best practices in their states.
Previously, while opening the conference on Friday, the Home Minister highlighted the importance of the security sector in realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Developed India’ by 2047 and becoming the world’s third-largest economy by 2027.
He also stressed the need to concentrate on the emerging security challenges along the Eastern border, immigration, and urban policing trends.
He advocated for the adoption of a zero-tolerance strategy and action plan to enforce a zero-tolerance policy.
HM Shah also mentioned that under PM Modi’s leadership, India is shaping its police force to tackle modern challenges and address the underlying causes of crime and terrorism.
He acknowledged the DG-IG Conference as a vital platform for knowledge exchange, aiming to strengthen policing across states through cooperation.
