PM in Osaka to attend crucial G20 Summit


Osaka: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has begun his official tour by meeting his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe is in Osaka on Thursday, reports said.

The Prime Minister is here to attend the crucial G20 Summit.

Modi has thanked the Japanese Prime Minister for his congratulatory message after the Bharatiya Janata Party won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections with a landslide majority.

The Indian Prime Minister returned the favour by congratulating Abe and the entire country of Japan for the commencement of the Reiwa era.

Emperor Naruhito formally ascended the Chrysanthemum Throne as Japan’s new monarch on May 1 after his father Akihito abdicated the throne of the world’s oldest monarchy on April 30.

‘Reiwa’  is broadly translated to ‘auspicious harmony’.

Akihito’s era was known as ‘Heisei’, which means ‘peace everywhere’. The ‘Heisei’ era commenced after Akihito ascended the throne on 7 January 1989.
