Berhampur: A Plus III student was found dead inside his room at RK hostel in Khallikote Unitary University in Berhampur of Ganjam district on Tuesday late afternoon.
According to reports, the student identified as Kunal Mallik, who was staying at the varsity’s RK hostel, turned critically ill and fainted inside his room.
While the actual reason behind the student’s death is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that he consumed poison to end his life.
The student was declared dead at MKCG Medical College & Hospital, sources said.
Following the student’s death, scores of hostel inmates reached the hospital and were awaiting the post-mortem report till the last report came in.
The warden of RK Hostel, Kunal Kumar Mishra, reported about the incident to the police.
