Dhenkanal: Two minor girls were killed while another was injured critically after a pick-up van, reportedly plying on the wrong side of a road, mowed down them at Bazichowk in Dhenkanal district on Monday.
The identities of the deceased girls and the injured one were not known immediately.
According to sources, the incident occurred when the minor girls, aged 5 and 7 years respectively, were playing under Bazichowk flyover. Meanwhile, the vehicle hit them while speeding on the wrong side.
On being informed, police rushed to the spot and launched a probe into the matter.
Sources said the families of the two deceased girls earn their livelihood by selling honey on the roadside.
