Petrol pump looted; Miscreants decamped with iron chest and CCTV cameras

Khurda:  At a petrol pump, Sundaray Filling Station at Kudiari near Jatni, two miscreants have looted Rs. 8.52 lakh in the wee hours of Monday.

As per sources, five employees were sleeping inside the filling station office when they heard a knock on the door around 2 am. One of the employee, Sina Parida , opened the door and saw a youth wearing helmet standing in front of the office and another sitting on a bike. The youth told Parida that there was a medical emergency and they needed petrol. They asked Parida to fill petrol worth Rs 350 and handed a nte of rs 500 denomination. Parida was returning the balance to the youth when the latter held a gun at him and asked for money.

Parida managed to hold the hand of the youth and they had a fight. Hearing the noise, other employees sleeping inside woke up. However, the other youth entered the cabin with a dagger and terrorized the employees. The duo took the cellphones of all the employees and locked them in a toilet.

The miscreants then fled with an iron chest containing the cash and hard copy of the CCTV camera installed at the fuel station. They also suspected the involvement of more people in the crime because the chest weighed 120 kg and it was impossible for two men to lift it and put it in some vehicle so fast.

ACP Tapan Kumar Pattnaik, Jatni inspector–in-charge Sanjeev Mohanty visited the spot along with a scientific team and a sniffer dog.

Meanwhile, police has started investigating into the matter.
