Bhubaneswar: Fuel prices were hiked sharply on Friday despite a drop in international crude oil prices.
State-run oil marketing companies have hiked petrol and diesel prices by 30 paise and 35 paise respectively.
Today, the petrol price has been recorded at Rs 104.98 per litre while the diesel price has been recorded at Rs 100.99 per litre in the smart city.
Diesel prices have also been rising sharply over the past few weeks and rates in major cities are now inching closer to Rs 100 per litre.
If the fresh round of fuel price hike lasts a few weeks, diesel price will cross the psychological barrier of Rs 100 per litre in many major cities.
Almost all cities of Odisha has registered petrol price above 100 and the rate of petrol in Malkangiri district has been recorded to be the highest in the state at Rs 109.87.
