Mumbai: Bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra has been roped in to play the lead in the Hindi remake of the Hollywood film The Girl on the Train (2016).
India’s Reliance Entertainment will produce the official Indian remake of Tate Taylor’s movie. The news was confirmed by Trade analyst Taran Adarsh through his Twitter handle.
Parineeti will be seen as the alcoholic divorcee who investigates what she thinks is a crime. The Bollywood remake will be helmed by Ribhu Dasgupta.
The Girl on the Train is a 2016 American mystery thriller drama film directed by Tate Taylor and written by Erin Cressida Wilson, based on Paula Hawkins’ 2015 debut novel of the same name.
The film stars Emily Blunt, Rebecca Ferguson, Haley Bennett, Justin Theroux, Luke Evans, Allison Janney, Édgar Ramírez and Lisa Kudrow. The film follows an alcoholic divorcée, Rachael, who becomes involved in a missing person’s investigation.
Rachel, idealises Scott and Megan, a young couple who live next to her ex-husband. However, when Megan suddenly goes missing, Rachel gets dragged into the ensuing investigation.
