Pari Murder Case: SIT Picks Up Three Including Saroj Sethi

Nayagarh: In another development in the “Nayagarh Minor Girl (Pari) Abduction And Murder Case”, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) today picked up one Saroj Sethy, a college student, from Jadupur village in Nayagarh district along with two of his family members for interrogation.

The investigating team are interrogating Sethy, his mother and sister at an undisclosed place.

Reportedly, two days ago, the youth alleged that the chief of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Crime Branch had offered him Rs 5 lakh to confess to the crime.

Asserting that he is innocent and has no knowledge about the incident, he said the SIT chief Arun Bothra will be responsible if the police took any action against him and his family.

The youth’s allegation came a day after the SIT team submitted a preliminary investigation report to the Orissa High Court, stating that the minor girl was probably raped before she was murdered.

The reports further say that a stain of semen was also found on the victim’s frock during the scientific examination.

In a further development, the accused has been identified as a youth of the same village.

The Odisha police on Friday sought to term the accusations made by the youth as ‘baseless’.

Five-year-old girl Pari of Jadupur village in Nayagarh district was kidnapped on July 14 this year when she was playing outside her house. Her skeletal remains were recovered from the backyard of her house nine days later.

The abduction and subsequent murder of the little girl sparked a state-wide outcry after the victim’s parents Soudamini and Ashok Sahoo attempted self-immolation in front of the Assembly recently.
