Paradip murder: Mahima and son Charchit’s arms license cancelled

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Wednesday cancelled firearms licenses of industrialist Mahima Mishra and his son Charchit Mishra in connection with the Paradip Seaways Shipping and Logistics Ltd. (SSLL) manager Mahendra Swain murder.

Police commissioner YB Khurania informed that the Jagatsinghpur police had earlier recommended for cancellation of the gun license of father and son duo. “We have now cancelled the arms license of Mahima Mishra and Charchit Mishra. If need arises we may cancel OSL’s helicopter license,” said Khurania.

Today Jagatsinghpur police inspected the OSL helicopter at Bhubaneswar airport.

Earlier, police had issued a lookout circular against Mahima Mishra on November 4 challenging which Mishra had applied for anticipatory bail on November 18 in the High Court. However, Mishra is yet to get a date for hearing.

Mahendra Swain was murdered on October 26 following a long running dispute regarding stevedoring on the Paradip port in which police has confirmed involvement of OSL officials and its Managing Director Mahima Mishra.
