Pakistani spying case: Close aide of SP leader detained


New Delhi: Samajwadi Party’s (SP) Rajya Sabha MP Munawwar Saleem’s personal assistant Farhat was arrested by the Delhi police in connection with the Pakistan spying case on Friday night. So far police have arrested four people in this matter.

Farhat is currently being interrogated by the crime branch. The police is also further investigating the case to find out other members involved in the racket. Police said there were other members who were in close contact with Mehmood.

On Thursday Pak High Commission officer Mehmood Akhtar was briefly detained for allegedly purchasing sensitive documents from an Indian national, but later let off because of diplomatic immunity. Police also arrested two Indians Maulana Ramzan and Subash Jangir on charges of alleged spying and giving sensitive information like defence documents to Mehmood.
