Pak shelling kills one civilian, injures two in Poonch district


Jammu and Kashmir: Continuous shelling by Pakistan army in Balakote sector in Poonch district has killed one civilian and injured two others.

This is the latest ceasefire violation by Pakistan.

The shelling was in the residential areas of Mendhar and Balakote sectors of Jammu and Kashmir in the early hours of Wednesday.

It started at about 2 am when the residents in these areas were sleeping. Officials said the bombardment by small arms and intense shelling with mortars continued for about 45 minutes and stopped at about 2.45 am.

The officials said one of the shells exploded outside a house and an elderly woman who was sleeping outside the house died on the spot.

The other two injured people have been rushed to a hospital in Rajauri. The condition of the two is reportedly critical.
