Pak parliament passes resolution for hanging of child abusers

New Delhi: The Lower House of Pakistan Parliament has passed a resolution for public hanging of convicts accused of sexually abusing children.

The resolution was passed in the National Assembly on Friday. This comes at a time when there is debate worldwide on the abolition of capital punishment.

The resolution was introduced by the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan and passed with a majority of votes barring Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

Meanwhile, Human Rights activist Shireen Mazari sought to clarify that the resolution is not government-sponsored but was brought about by an individual.
