Padmashree Haladhar Nag lodges plaint against abusive Facebook post

Bargarh: Padmashree awardee Odia poet Haladhar Nag lodged a complaint in connection with the misuse of his name in an abusive post on Facebook.

According to the complaint lodged at Melchamunda Police station in Bargarh district, someone misused Nag’s name and created a fake Facebook profile. It may be mentioned here that the video posted on a YouTube channel in 2018 was shared on a Facebook page ‘Koshali’ yesterday.

The post later triggered controversy since the page that shared the video had a display picture of Padma Shree Haladhar Nag. The fake user made a post by burning the basic Odia language learning book, ‘ Chabila Madhu Barnabodha’. On the reaction to this post, many followers of Nag, have made abusive comments regarding the post.

The Melchamunda police station’s in-charge Swapnarani Gochayat has detained one person named, Shribhushan Sahoo for interrogation in this regard.

The police have registered a case 106/2019 under IPC sections 419 and 420 against the misusers.

Haladhar Nag said, ” Its a very painful incident, where I’m seeing the most primer of Odia language book in the fire. Some ill-minded people are trying to defame me by using my picture on the page and sharing the video showing the book being torched by some people. There should be a strong step taken by the police and the accused should be punished.”

Notably, Poet Nag doesn’t know how to use Facebook and lives a simple life. Besides, Facebook page Koshali has removed Nag’s picture from its display picture.
