Bhubaneswar: Social worker and Padma Shri Shanti Devi was passed away late last night at her residence in Gunupur in Rayagada district.
Born on 18th April 1934, Shanti Devi started a small Ashram in Koraput and later established Seva Samaj at Rayagada for the all round development of the girl child. She then set up another Ashram at Gunpur for the education. rehabilitation, vocational training of orphans and destitute children.
She has created a special acquaintance for herself in the whole country for her noticeable contribution in the field of social service.
As one of the pioneer of social service movement, she had been honoured with one of the most prestigious civilian awards of the country ‘Padma Shri’ in the year 2021.
