Overnight rain claims 12 lives in Maharashtra


Mumbai: At least 12 persons were killed as overnight rains lashed parts of Maharashtra as the south-west monsoon progressed into the western coastal state on Saturday.

The Mumbai suburbs spread across three districts of Thane, Raigad and Palghar received a heavy overnight rain which was accompanied by lightning and winds. However, there was no incident of rail or road disruption.

Four people were killed and eight injured in Gadchiroli, three died in Nanded, two in Latur and one in Nashik when they were struck by lightning in the early hours on Saturday.
