Koraput: Macchakund police have arrested a person with the seizure of over two quintal cannabis in Koraput district on Saturday. The accused has been identified as Debasish Acharya of Jalaput village.
Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a speeding van near Sanasagara village and found around 2.5 quintals of ganja stashed in 15 gunny bags.
The estimated value of the seized contraband would be worth around Rs 25 lakh, said a police official.
During interrogation, the accused confessed that the ganja was being transported to Similiguda from Muchimput in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.
A case has been registered and further investigation to nab such more mafias is on.
