Over 7300 RSP employees register in SAIL’s SERVICE volunteerism scheme

Rourkela: More than 7300 employees of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) have registered in SERVICE- the employee volunteerism scheme of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL).

It is worth mentioning here that with the initiative of Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Minister of Steel, SAIL,  launched a unique scheme that supports volunteer activities and community outreach by its employees on 22nd January 2020. Christened as the SAIL Employees Rendering Volunteerism & Initiatives for Community Engagement [SERVICE], the scheme encourages employees to devote time voluntarily for social causes and Voluntary Philanthropic Activities (VPAs).

The employees can register themselves individually or along with family and friends to  render service in the areas of ‘Access to water and sanitation’, ‘Assistance to Divyangjan’, ‘Education’, ‘Health’, ‘Sports Coaching’, ‘Sustainable Income Generation’, ‘Traditional art and culture’, ‘Village development’, ‘Voluntary blood donation’ and ‘Women’s empowerment.’

It is worth mentioning here that out of the total employee strength of about 13600 more than half that is 7300 employees have registered in the scheme as on 19th March 2020. The employees are also encouraged to register in the scheme along with family and friends in groups. This takes the total registration from the Plant to 8450.

The last date for registration in the portal is 31st March 2020.
