Bhubaneswar: At a time when experts, both in India and abroad, have stressed on strict safety norms to prevent the spread of Covid-19, Police here have fined over 1000 people for violating COVID norms.
This was informed by Bhubaneswar DCP today.
The DCP Bhubaneswar on Wednesday tweeted that about 1023 people being fined in the city for not wearing masks and violating social distancing norms in the last 24 hours.

A total of 1682 persons were fined on Sunday and Monday and another 989 on Saturday.
The penalty for the first and second violation is Rs 500. For subsequent violations, it is Rs 1000 each. The Odisha government had earlier warned violators of stern action from September 9.
