Cuttack: The Orissa High Court has fixed the date of the next hearing on March 2 concerning the ongoing lawyers’ strike in Western Odisha.
The full bench of Orissa High Court has conducted hearing on lawyers’ strike on Monday. The High Court had earlier on October conducted hearing on the matter twice.
The Bar Associations which have refrained themselves from the ongoing lawyers’ agitation have submitted affidavits in this regard. However, the State Bar Council has said 10 bar associations of the state have not withdrawn their agitation so far.
The Bar Associations of Sambalpur, Bolangir, and Jharsuguda have been continuing their agitation demanding the establishment of permanent HC bench.
It is worthwhile to mention here that the full bench of Orissa High Court in the month of October last year had conducted a first hearing on the ongoing lawyers’ strike in Western Odisha. It had expressed grave concern on the matter as legal proceedings in various courts have hampered due to such strikes that continue for months.
The High Court had served 30 notices to Odisha Bar Council and other lawyers’ associations in this connection.
