Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident a group of miscreants today went on an assault spree in Baramunda area of the city when they randomly attacked many by making cuts on their bodies. The six people who were injured seriously in the assaults have been admitted to the Capital Hospital and are under treatment. Police has arrested one of the accused in connection with the incident while other two have been identified, police sources said.
Late evening a group of youth were reported to have attacked many people in the busy Siripur- Baramunda area of the capital city. “The group came in black Pulsars and started attacking people,” said an eye witness. Sources said the miscreants in the group had a blade like weapon with which they slit people’s body, mainly throats. Many injured have cuts on arms, neck and other body parts.
Police arrested a college student from Rupali square in this connection. The arrested youth named Amit Mohapatra is a second year Capital Law College student and son of an advocate, informed police Commissioner YB Khurania. “Other accused managed to escape but police is hunting for them,” he assured.
Some of the injured admitted to Capital hospital who were discharged are Tikayat Sahoo of Dhenkanal, Sraban Das of Pipili, Sanjay Mohapatra of the capital city and Swagat Nayak of Puri.
