One More Patient Under ECMO Support At Cuttack SCB Hospital Dies

Cuttack: Another patient undergoing Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack succumbed last night.

According to sources, the patient, identified to be the first person to be admitted in SCB after ECMO treatment was introduced at the hospital, was admitted to the hospital last month and was undergoing ECMO treatment since then.

Earlier, two more patients succumbed to death while undergoing ECMO Treatment here.

The Odisha government had launched a dedicated ECMO facility at SCB Medical College and Hospital on August 27, 2021. It is first of its kind in Odisha that nine ECMO machines were installed at a time in the state. The facility provides free ECMO treatment to critically ill patients and it is the largest ECMO facility in the eastern part of India.
