New Delhi: A day ahead of the fifth Test against England, the practice session of the Indian cricket tteam was cancelled on Thursday after one more member of support staff tested positive for COVID-19.

The Virat Kohli-led Indian cricket team had last trained in Manchester on Wednesday but were asked to stay in the hotel following Thursday’s positive test result.

While the identity of the support staff member could not be ascertained, the players have been advised to remain in their respective rooms.

Earlier, head coach Ravi Shastri and fellow members of the support staff — Bharat Arun, R Sridhar and Nitin Patel — had gone into isolation in England after Shastri returned a positive test result.

India currently lead the five-match series 2-1 and a draw or a win in the final Test at Manchester would guarantee them a series in England after 14 years.
