Bolangir: A person was killed while one sustained critical injuries after a speeding truck ran over them near Bidighat Chakk under Sadar police station limits in Bolangir district late last night.
The deceased has been identified as Himanshu Shetty of Sagarpada and the injured has been identified as Prashanta Nag.
According to reports, the incident occurred while the four friends were hanging out near Bidighat Chakk when a speeding truck ran over them. While two of them had a narrow escape, one was killed and one sustained critical injuries in the mishap. However, the truck driver fled the spot soon after the accident.
The injured was immediately rushed to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
On getting information, police reached the spot and recovered the body for post-mortem. Further investigation is underway in this regard.
