One crore vaccinated: Global community lauds India’s vaccine outreach
New Delhi: One crore people have been vaccinated so far in the country, sources in the Union Health Ministry said on Friday.
It has been a significant milestone in what has been touted as the largest vaccination drive in the world. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has earlier said that India has already supplied COVID-19 vaccines to 25 countries and consignments to 49 more are in the pipeline.
India also announced that two lakh doses of vaccine would be sent to United Nations Peacekeeping forces. PM Narendra Modi said India’s efforts to reach out to the global community were lauded by its neighbours. He told this to the leaders of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Mauritius, Nepal, Pakistan, Seychelles and Sri Lanka at a virtual workshop entitled ‘COVID-19 Management: Experience, Good Practices and Way Forward’ .
PM Modi even suggested a special visa for “doctors and nurses, so that they can travel quickly within our region during health emergencies.
