One coach of Dhauli Express derails near Panskura in WB, no casualties


Bhubaneswar: Passengers of the Howrah-Puri Dhauli Express had a narrow escape after one coach of the train derailed between Bhogpur and Panskura in West Bengal this morning.

The coach had around 85 passengers in it. However, no casualties were reported.

According to sources, the incident took place when the train was en route to Puri from Howrah. The 12821 Dhauli Express derailed between Bhogpur-Panksura by one set of wheels at around 7 am in the morning.

Reportedly, a relief team and a special team of senior railway officials and engineers have rushed to the spot. The exact reason behind the mishap is yet to be ascertained, an official said.

Almost all passengers have been adjusted in Falaknuma Express coming from Howrah side going towards Secunderabad. It will stop at all stations where Dhauli Express is scheduled to stop, officials added.

Meanwhile, the Railway authorities have issued helpline numbers for the passengers and their kin. Helpline number at Khurda control– 0674-2490670– has been issued by the Railways.

Kharagpur Section has also issued helpline numbers-03222255897 and 03222255751, while authorities of the Howrah and Balasore sections have issued the helpline no-03326377197 and 06782265767 respectively.
