Jajpur: Police arrested a youth on the charges of extortion at NH-16 under Dharmashala police station limits in the Jajpur district late last night.
The accused has been identified as Shrikant Mishra from Deuli village.
Reportedly, the police were on night patrolling and spotted some people extorting money from the vehicle on NH-16. However, police managed to nab one of them while his associates escaped from the spot.
The cops have arrested the accused and also seized a country-made pistol from his possession. Further investigation is underway in this regard, police said.
