Omicron Variant: Odisha Top Officials Conducts High Level Meeting


Bhubaneswar: Amid detection of Omicron variant of Coronavirus, the health department officials today held a high level meeting with senior officials at Loka Seva Bhawan here.

Odisha reported its first two cases of Omicron variant of Covid-19. Both the infectees have foreign travel history to Nigeria and Qatar respectively.

While one hails from Jagatsingpur district, another is a resident of Khurda district. They have mild symptoms, stated the official giving details about Odisha’s first two Omicron cases.

It is worth mentioning that three samples were sent for genome sequencing to confirm Omicron cases in Odisha and the report of two came out positive for Omicron variant.
