Saitama: The United States claimed its fourth straight Olympic gold medal with an 87-82 victory over France on Saturday (Aug 7) here on Saturday.

Kevin Durant recorded 29 points and six rebounds.

Jayson Tatum added 19 points and seven rebounds off the bench as the United States avenged a loss to France in pool play.

The NBA stars previously fell to the French on July 25, marking the first time the U.S. men’s team lost in the Olympics since 2004.

Team USA has now won gold in each of the last four Olympics, including Rio, London and Beijing. This medal is the 19th won by Team USA in men’s basketball: 16 gold, 1 silver (1972 Munich Games), and two bronze (1988 Seoul Games and 2004 Athens Games).

“We went through some real adversity,” said Durant after winning his third Olympic gold medal, also succeeding in 2012 and 2016.
