New Delhi : Sandstone replicas of the iconic Konark wheel from Odisha have been installed at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre and Amrit Udyan. This effort, spearheaded by President Droupadi Murmu, aims to showcase and promote India’s rich heritage to visitors.
The Konark wheel, a symbol of India’s architectural and cultural legacy, originates from the 13th-century Konark Sun Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The wheel, representing the chariot of the Sun god, is renowned for its intricate design and historical significance.
President Murmu emphasized the importance of integrating traditional cultural elements into national landmarks. “The installation of the Konark wheel replicas is a tribute to our rich heritage and a step towards preserving and promoting our cultural identity,” she stated.
