Odisha Unlock 2: Night curfew from 9pm -5am; weekend shutdown in 10 dists, schools closed till Aug 31
Bhubaneswar: In view of the Unlock 2 in Odisha, the state government on Tuesday announced that schools, educational institutions, and cinema halls will remain closed till August 31.
Chief Secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy said the educational institutions will be allowed to remain open to conduct examinations and evaluations. He said the night curfew across the state will be clamped from 9 PM to 5 AM.
The Chief Secretary said the Odisha government has categorized 10 districts namely Ganjam, Gajapati, Khordha, Cuttack, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Jharsuguda districts under Zone-1.
He said the local administrations in these districts were empowered to stop inter-district public and private transport movement if they feel that restrictions are needed.
Tripathy said office and business establishments can be closed by the local authorities. Emergency service, fire services, and police were exempted from the restrictions. Personnel of animal husbandry and fisheries departments are also given an exception.
The government has allowed hotels and restaurants for food takeaways whereas big grocery stores can make home delivery.
The Chief Secretary said other districts have been categorized as Zone 2 where there will not be not much restrictions apart from the night curfew.
