Odisha: Two More Labs Likely To Get Permission For COVID-19 Test


Bhubaneswar: The State government is making efforts to get permission for two more laboratories, —Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology (OUAT) and SCB Medical and Hospital,  in the State for the test of COVID-19.

Sources said blood and swab samples in these government labs may begin in next 3-4 days following possible approval by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

With getting permission for examining blood and swab samples of suspected cases at more number of laboratories, at least 200 samples can be carried out per day in the state.

Currently, the samples are being tested at RMRC (Regional Medical Research Centre) in Bhubaneswar.

Meanwhile, the test for COVID-19 has started at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. On Wednesday, three samples were examined and all tested negative.

On the other hand, the Centre has given permission to Apollo Hospital, Bhubaneswar, to test for COVID-19. This is the first private hospital to have received approval to test the samples. However, no test has been conducted so far.
