Odisha To Set Up Dedicated COVID-19 Vaccination Centres To Inoculate Children

Bhubaneswar: The State Government will set up dedicated vaccination centres for inoculation of children between 15-18 years age group against Covid-19, informed the director of Health and Family Welfare, Bijay Panigrahi on Wednesday.

“All the district administrations have been directed to set up dedicated COVID-19 vaccination centres,” Panigrahi told the local media. They have been also asked to set specific timings for the inoculation of COVID-19 vaccines to children at the existing vaccination centres, he added.

“Children, who were born before 1st January 2007, are eligible to take the COVID-19 vaccine doses in 15-18 year age group. In case a kid doesn’t have any identity proof, he/she can show the school/college ID cards to take jab,” the Health Dept Director further said.

“The gap between the first dose and second dose for children would be 28 days,” he added.

Eligible teens can register themselves on the CoWin app through their Aadhar Card and school IDs from January 1, 2022 following which the vaccination will begin from January 3. Both online and on-site registration facilities are available. The vaccination timings will be from 8 AM-1 PM.

 

On the other hand, frontline workers will be administered booster doses from January 10, 2022, and those above 60 years with co-morbidities on the recommendation of doctors.
