The Odisha government has taken various steps to bring transparency to the process of paddy procurement from farmers in the state.
Extensive awareness campaigns are underway to enable eligible farmers to sell their paddy at government facilities. Vigilance is being maintained to prevent the inflow and sale of paddy from outside the state, with heightened security, particularly in the border districts.
To date, 84 enforcement teams have been stationed across various districts, including 10 in Bargarh and 21 in Sambalpur. Additional teams will be strategically deployed in the districts as the paddy procurement progresses. These teams will monitor vehicles transporting paddy into the state from neighbouring regions, as well as those moving from markets to mills and depots. They are authorized to act swiftly and confiscate any vehicle found to be involved in irregularities.
Civil Supply officers in each district will implement the necessary measures. The district collectors will oversee the deployment of these officers and manage their communication systems.
Measures are in place to ensure that farmers with tokens can sell their paddy at the markets and have a positive experience. The government has issued directives to facilitate the required provisions at various marketplaces.
