Bhubaneswar: Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Kumar Jena today clarified why Bhubaneswar has been classified as a red zone by the State health department.
The denizens were in confusion after the state government classified Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) area under the red zone while Khurda district came under the Orange Zone.
Addressing the scheduled press meet at Geeta Govinda Sadan here this evening, the Odisha SRC said, “There have been 15 active cases of COVID-19 in Bhubaneswar in the last 21 days. Besides, one case was reported in the city in the last 7 days. Following this, the State Government decided to place Bhubaneswar under Red Zone Category.”
Jena said that the State Capital Bhubaneswar is very populous as compared to other cities. Besides, there have been maximum cases of COVID-19 reported from this place.
“Taking all the aspects into consideration the Health Department designated Bhubaneswar as Red Zone,” said Jena.
