Bhubaneswar: School across Odisha have started classes in the morning shift from today to avoid heatwave related eventuality.
Classes for IX and XI which were conducted from 8.30 am to 10 am have been rescheduled from 7 am to 9 am. Similarly, students of class X and XII will attend classes from 9 am to 1 pm.
The decision has been taken as precautionary measures to tackle heatwave affecting school-going students.
The School and Mass Education department has directed all District Education Officers (DEOs) to ensure morning classes amid strict adherence to the Covid-19 guidelines.
District Education Officers are advised to ensure availability of safe pure drinking water in all schools including repair of tube well if any in consultation with officials of PR & DW Deptt./ Urban local bodies.
DEOs are also advised to store sufficient ORS in school point which can be provided to students and staff in case of need and the same can be procured from local Health Centre.
