Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has announced plans to provide homestay accommodations for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) attending the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) in Bhubaneswar from January 8-11, 2025. This initiative aims to offer attendees an authentic experience of Odisha’s culture and hospitality.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida confirmed the preparations, stating that the Tourism Department is fully equipped to manage the arrangements. “We are delighted to host the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Bhubaneswar and are committed to ensuring a memorable stay for our NRI guests,” Parida said.
The homestay program will allow NRIs to stay with local families, providing a unique opportunity to experience the region’s traditions and lifestyle. Families interested in hosting guests can apply online through the official portal.
In addition to homestays, the government has also blocked over 200 hotels with approximately 3,700 rooms across Bhubaneswar, Puri, and Cuttack to accommodate the influx of visitors. The Tourism Department has coordinated with local authorities to ensure the safety and comfort of all attendees.
The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is an annual event that celebrates the contributions of the Indian diaspora to the development of India. This year’s event in Bhubaneswar is expected to draw a large number of participants from around the world, highlighting Odisha’s rich cultural heritage and scenic beauty.
